The Three Wise Monkeys
This selfie triptych restored my creative mojo, it having been bred out of me whilst studying documentary photography a long time ago. I picked up where I left off, having completed a portrait of my friend Colin before going to Newport College.
Human beings are dynamic, ever-changing organisms. Long exposures reveal an existential reality beyond the still image and what we see with the naked eye or in a still photograph. In the case of these selfies I attempt to strip away the superficial details of the ego and replace them with an impression of presence. It becomes less a photo, and more a photo of existence traversing through a moment.
